Detailed Responsibilities
The Speech and Language Therapist will assess communication and swallowing concerns, document baseline abilities, set measurable therapy goals and provide individual or family-supported therapy sessions. The therapist will work with children who have developmental speech delay, autism spectrum-related communication needs, articulation issues or language delays, and with adults recovering from stroke, neurological injury or other conditions affecting communication and swallowing. The role includes preparing therapy plans, selecting appropriate tools, educating caregivers on home practice, maintaining progress notes and reviewing goals at regular intervals. In dysphagia-related cases, the therapist must follow safe referral, screening and escalation procedures and coordinate closely with medical and nursing staff. The position also involves contributing to case discussions, school or family guidance where appropriate and ethical handling of sensitive patient information.
